Must I remind myself that you are not my enemy?

I hope to God you’ll never be.

I only wish we saw eye to eye more frequently.

So much pain comes like a flood

In our world, both spirit and blood.

Must we add to it, slinging our mud?

I don’t desire a heart of fear.

I want both you and my brother near,

And no battle between those whom I hold dear.
