Is a warm touch required

For us to feel each other near?

May we only speak of hobbies,

Or also the things that we hold dear?

So many words we bandy about

Are short term things, not meaningful.

If we tried enough, I do not doubt

We could sculpt with thoughts more volatile.

And yet, it’s harder than I would have guessed

To lay the idle babble to rest,

And peer into places cursed or blessed.
