I find it hard to separate

You from the fantasies you’ve made,

Images projected, stories spun and acted

For the pleasure of the thousands

You have not known.

If I met you, who would I expect?

A white knight coming charging in?

Defender of goodness,

Robot-fighter,

Spaceship-captain,

One and many?

Who are you, really?

They say you are still

Friendly and kind,

Humble in success.

Some things are still yours,

When the stories are told:

Your face, your voice.
