Chapter 32: A Traveler's Warning

Link left the old man alone and continued on out of the town. He saw the old dirt road, but barely. He followed it until he came to an ancient cathedral. The massive doors were crafted with beauty in mind, and they were supposed to be maintained by the villagers. If the villagers were right then they abandoned the place never to see it again, except in their ever-haunting nightmares. Link took the door handle and slowly turned it. The door creaked open and bats flew out at Link. He wasn't as much scared, as he was startled. He dispatched them and entered the ancient monastery. There were pews lining the walls and an old candelabrum in the far distance. The walls were covered in cobwebs, but Link could still make out the beautifully crafted stained glass. He walked down the aisle towards the candelabra and almost tripped over a book. He lifted up the book and blew off the dust that was on it. The title read, "The Ancient Way of Alchemy". Link pocketed the book and continued on to the altar. He saw something in the corner of his eyes. The walls started to ripple back and forth like they were water being disturbed by a rock. The rippling continued on for a minute and then the cobwebs disappeared revealing the masonry and the ancient candelabra became lit. The room became livelier and the pews were repaired. Link thought that he was drifting back in time seeing the cathedral rebuild itself before his very own eyes. He began to hear chanting and saw three apparitions walk towards the candelabra, Link thought to himself, "They must be performing a ritual. These ghosts are probably monks who use to live here before the Great Evil arose." He wondered why this was happening to him. Then one of the monks turned to Link and told him to be wary of the evil presence that lay dormant there. Then, as it began, it ended within a second. The monk gave Link a warning, but a warning about what? He stared at the walls seeing the dust still in its recent place.
