Chapter 49: An Alliance Shattered

Link stood in the doorway in front of the newly open room. His sword still in his hand, but now at his side. The snicker that Ganon let out was the same snicker Link heard from him seven years ago, when Zelda and Impa were escaping from the castle and from Ganon's clutches. Link didn't move a muscle as he was trying to take all of the information that he had in front of him. He didn't know if he could trust what he saw or to ignore the possibility that Ganon was playing Link to find a way out of the Sacred Realm. Then Ganon started to speak. "Foolish child, did you think that I really wanted to help you get out of this realm? Ha! I just needed a pawn to get close enough into the labyrinth to gather the other two orbs. I possess the third and final orb to gain entrance to Agahnim. I want to kill him and get out of this foresaken realm of existance that I have been sealed in. Agahnim has controlled me from the time I got to this land. Now I want my revenge. I am going to take your orbs and kill you so that I have no other foe that would try to stop me from escaping this prison. Now you will die, fairy boy." Ganon grabbed his two-handed sword as he told Link. Then he started to swing it at Link. It made a couple of hits that weren't blocked by Link's shield, but most of them were deflected away. Link retaliated back with his own barraige of hits. In all of the scramble, both warriors were knocked down to their knees. Each one with little life left in them. Then Ganon threw one of his own spells at Link, it was a stone curse spell. It froze Link and paralyzed him, but luckily with his resistance he wasn't going to be petrafied. He knew that the effects would wear off after a few minutes, but that was all that Ganon needed as he grabbed Link's satchel and stole the two orbs Link had collected. He tossed the bag to the ground and then cast an invisiblity spell on himself. He escaped and Link was left with nothing to him that was needed in this labyrinth. The pact between Link and Ganon was broken, in Link's mind anyways. Now Link, left alone to ponder all of the reason Ganon would go off and break the alliance between them, couldn't keep his mind off the notion of why Ganon didn't take the orbs when he was incapacitated in the cell. Then out of nowhere the same voice as before came back to haunt Link's ears. "Now, don't give up that easily. You can still collect back your orbs, he has taken them to the center of the maze. Being so considerate, I am going to cast a spell to allow you access to it. Just follow the glowing spheres to your destination." Link heard as many glowing spheres appeared in the maze. He could finally move so he followed the lights to where Ganon was.
