Chapter 79: duocast Bodhi and Gary

There was only one thought on Bodhi’s mind as the sea otter swam through the water. He must protect Laguna, as that is what a good brother does. Convinced by the magic of the siren’s song that he was the ab-bound merman, Ronin, the lifeguard, picked up speed when suddenly something caught his eyes beneath the waves. At first, it looked like the sun was glistening off the waters, but it appeared to be a sparkling silver fish upon closer inspection. This object would be the perfect gift for his sister. Bodhi accelerated toward the shiny object, and once it was within reach, he grabbed it only to find himself pulled out of the water.

β€œUnhand me, bro,” the sea otter demanded as he dangled upside down. A cream-and-white cat snail hybrid with a green shell held the fishing rod firmly. β€œI, the mighty mer-bro, Ronin need to protect my sister.”

β€œUm, I’m reasonably sure you aren't a merperson,” the cat snail replied, a bit confused. My name is Gary, and it's nice to meet you, Ronin, if that's your real name, but you should probably stay away from the siren.”

β€œYou can’t keep me from my sister, bro, for I am...” Bodhi declared as he lost his grip on the shiny fish toy. Unable to correct himself, the otter took a header to the ground. Gary gasped and started to help, but the lifeguard was already hopping to his feet and shaking himself off. β€œI am Bodhi, bro. Why did I think I was a mer-bro.”

β€œI think you fell for the siren song,” Gary answered, still concerned. β€œAre you ok? That looked like it hurt.”

β€œNot the hardest I’ve hit my noggin, bro,” Bodhi laughed as he surveyed the area. β€œThank you, bro. Usually I’m the one pulling people out of the water.”

β€œNo problem but maybe find some earplugs if you are going after the siren,” the snail cat suggested, throwing his toy back into the water.

β€œGood call, bro,” the sea otter nodded before jumping back into the waves. He couldn’t quite remember where his earplugs went, but he’d have to find new ones.
