DoA - Drawlloween 2020: The Haunting of Lunar Base IV

Chapter 10: The Haunting of Lunar Base IV

The lunar base was normally considered to be a myth. But once a year, a handful of cheeky sea skimmers set up a large event on quite a barren rock. In the middle of the night, when the kelp was shrouded in darkness and the fish were hidden in their grasp, this was when they held their game. They created a large 'cage' made of various objects, including bones, kelp, shellfish and logs they'd dragged down from the surface to create a small course filled with other areas which could prove to be scary to most. The goal was to gather a large, shimmering crystal from the centre of the base.

But the last thing he expected was for this game to be a solo game.

Malachite had been playing this game for at least half an hour and his patience, as well as his nerve.

"It's the haunting of the lunar base... They said it would be fun..." Malachite muttered bitterly, his emerald eyes looking to and fro, his scales wanting to shudder as he moved his way down, thin, noodle-like form quickly pushing through the water. The goal was to get to the small, glowing crystal, before the Aqrion was too scared to continue.

With his pride on the line in front of at least several sea skimmers, he refused to stop, slowly swimming through the large course, the place illuminated by various strands of glowing kelp. Lights flashed to his left paired with the sound of a large crack, making him jump and glance over, only for the light to rapidly fade, a curtain of kelp washing over the room.

Shaking his head, he slowly continued, carefully, cautiously, following the maze of a path as it twisted left and right. Eventually, his nerves began to calm, nothing having happened. The glint of the crystal was getting brighter and as he turned once more towards the left, it opened up into a semi-large room, the shiny crystal

Malachite turned left again, only to hear the slight snapping of a line or something similar. He paused for a moment, before a rattle sounded behind him, making him glance over his shoulder. Still, nothing.

He gave an unimpressed huff of frustration, turning his head towards forward once more. Instantly, a rattle of bones sounded, making him instantly be on edge as he made his way into the room once more, before it happened.

A monster dropped down from the roof, the clattering of bones frightening Malachite, the emerald dragon yelping with fright, flippers moving rapidly to push himself backwards, trying to get away from the bones. However, the sea skimmers above pulled those strings again, making it move to look as if it were going to grab Malachite.

The frightened dragon yelped once more, before he pushed himself backwards again, the kelp restraining him for a moment, before snapping, throwing him out of the game.

The group of sea skimmers giggled, before a familiar black and red sea skimmer winked. "Maybe next year?" They asked, before moving to patch up the kelp, setting the game up again for their next, unfortunate victim, giggling all the while.
