DoA - Drawlloween 2020: 90 Day Séance

Chapter 13: 90 Day Séance

Oh how big of a mistake this was… Trying to even communicate with the dead wasn’t high on Malachite’s bucket list, nor Spessartine’s, and yet, here they were. They had just tried it, speaking to those bones as they were seated in the middle of a graveyard, the bones of different species scattered around. Large ones the size of their neck, but also a variety scattered around which were incredibly thin, almost like toothpicks, attached to a spine, something which was obviously a fish.

The water around them seemed to almost be a dusky purple, the rotting flesh and spines gently swaying back and forth. It was a very eerie, creepy place that the two found themselves in, and it was not long before they were beginning to feel cold shivers and chills down their spine.

Malachite would never admit it, he did not exactly want to be there. He found the place too creepy, although, trying to put on a brave face, he decided not to run away, not just yet. Spessartine was simply being next to him, glancing up as small angler fish slowly drifted past them, the waters too deep and cold for them to try and swim away, but their long, bioluminescent tendrils flowing in the water, attracting tiny life forms. It seemed so peaceful there, unaware of what it was drifting through.

Spessartine sighed softly, making Malachite slightly jump from being startled, “Do you really think that this is even remotely a good idea?” She asked, chuckling softly, as the emerald dragon slowly gave a shrug.

“I mean… It didn’t really do anything at all.” Malachite replied gently, an amused look dancing in his green eyes as he indicated the skeletons with his flipper. Spessartine considered what he was saying, slowly nodding in agreement.

“That’s true, it likely wouldn’t have done anything anyway, we probably had to do something special, which we didn’t do.” Spessartine mumbled, grinning a little more as she pushed herself out from the skeletons around them, the bones gently moving as she did so.

Malachite nodded, amusement coming over his face again, “That’s true… We probably missed something incredibly obvious about this séance.”

Spessartine hummed in return as Malachite spoke, then gave a laugh, giving him a very toothy grin, “Something so incredibly obvious that it’s silly…”

Malachite laughed gently, “That’s true, maybe it’s not so obvious, but just outright silly! Like having to chat to these bones for 90 days straight to get any results.”

The pair chuckled and joked together quietly, beginning to move away from those bones. Little did they know, they were closer to the truth than they wanted to admit…
