DoA - Drawlloween 2020: Graveyard

Chapter 28: Graveyard

Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end. Life always comes to a full circle, back down to end up with the grave. Thankfully, there was nothing bad had happened this day and Malachite just wanted to explore it, figure out just what was going on around these bones, the poor buried bodies of old creatures who’d come to their final resting place. Although, it seemed as if there was more activity than usual around this part of the ocean in recent days. Malachite wanted to know what was happening and why it was, especially because this had seemed to come out of the blue. There seemed to be no reason for this to happen, but it had indeed happened.

Malachite slowly swam over the bodies of fish and large other creatures, bubbles gently flowing from them and raising to the surface of the water as he swam by. It was curious that there was something that seemed to be happening here, but what, he had no idea. He could not even figure it out as he was exploring it – perhaps he had come at the wrong day? Maybe the wrong time of day? There was simply nothing happening as he was swimming over the ocean of dead.

Plus, he didn’t appreciate the prickling feeling that being around the graveyard had, it always made him feel sad, solemn. If any of these creatures were sentient, they would have likely lost someone here which would have passed on, which was quite sad to him, to lose someone dear… He shook his head. Now wasn’t really the time for sentiment, but the time to try and figure things out, anything out, figure out the mystery of why there was so much activity around the graveyards in recent days! He had to figure it out! Somehow!

Although it was with those thoughts that it had happened, some sort of movement caught his eyes and he turned his head to face it, before quickly moving down to hide behind a rock, watching from a distance. A small, young yellow aqrion held a small flower in their maw, swimming through the waters and going towards a specific little area of the graveyard, towards something that likely perished there a few days ago, or was buried there. Either way, the small aqrion found a small rock, leaving the flower on it, before quickly swimming away. This was repeated by two other aqrions, both younger ones and it crushed Malachite’s heart as he watched, his mind wandering as to why three young aqrions were placing flowers there…

Slowly he moved away, his heart sorrowful.

That was enough of the graveyard for one day.
