Chapter 76: Trash Clean Up

β€œAnd here we are,” Kaytlyn declared as the small fennec led Pipsqueak to an unassuming plot of swampland. Garbage was strewn all over the ground and in the shallow waters. Carefully, Kaytlyn planted a sign bearing her name and the fact that she had adopted this swamp section.

β€œHelp fren Kay pick up then get jerky,” Pipsqueak asked as he picked up an empty egg carton. While he was helpful, the little brown kobold’s motives weren’t entirely altruistic. It didn’t matter to Kaytlyn as she was more than willing to get any help or bribe.

β€œJust put everything in these bags, and we’ll sort it for recycling later,” the fennec girl instructed as she pulled a roll of biodegradable bags out of her purse. It was too damp here to worry about sorting now. Besides, she could always offload that task onto several Spring Druid acolytes.

The cleaning task went smoothly for the most part. Pipsqueak pocketed a few items, including a stack of tires, for a secret cleaning project. After an hour, a string of swears echoed through the air, coming closer to the duo. Luis splashed his way toward Kaytlyn and Pipsqueak, stopping suddenly in surprise.

β€œWhat are you two doing out here unsupervised,” the dogfolk growled, annoyed to see the fennec. He looked to see the kobold and shook his head, annoyed. β€œShe’s not a real intern, you don’t have to do what she says.”

β€œWeh? Help fren Kay then get jerky,” Pipsqueak nodded as he tried not to get tangled in some six-pack rings.

β€œI adopted this section of the swamp,” Kaytlyn informed Luis while pointing to her sign. β€œIf you want to help I can pay you.”

β€œHow did you file the paperwork? You’re a child,” the golden dog man angrily demanded, a bit confused. β€œKids can’t just adopt things.”

β€œWell, there is this,” Kaytlyn laughs as she snaps her fingers. Purple light enveloped the fennec, and upbeat music played from somewhere. When the light faded, Kaytlyn stood five feet tall in a purple dress with five different colored tails. Her Brick Brick elemental weapon floated behind her head with a halo of rainbow violets.

β€œFren Kay is sailor hero,” Pipsqueak gasped in surprise, now thoroughly stuck in the six-pack rings.

β€œThe hell is going on? Have I been inhaling too many swamp fumes,” Luis shook his head even more confused.

β€œI am the Druid Sentinel now, and if you help clear the trash, I will explain everything,” the fennec kitsune smiled. With a wave of her hand, she freed the entangled kobold.

β€œFine but only because I was already doing it,” the dog folk grumbled, picking a handful of cans.
