Chapter 75: Metal Wurm Baricade

β€œAlright, come this way,” Kaytlyn motioned to direct Dee to the spot between the trees. Was it her imagination, or was he quite a bit bigger and pinker than usual? No, she was just hallucinating from the swamp fumes. β€œJust brace yourself carefully.”

The massive fleshy wurm scuttled through the shallow swamp waters to the place the fennec kitsune indicated. He reached out to wrap himself around the two trees. Alone, the eldritch creature wouldn’t make much of a barricade to stop the path of the trash monster, but there was more than enough debris around to shore up the defenses. Using whatever she could find in the water, Kaytyln began to stack trash onto the Wurm to help make him a better barricade.

β€œWhat’s going on here?” Passi asked, yawning while flapping down from a tree. The pink and blue moth surveyed the scene before him. A kitsune wearing a purple dress with five different-colored tails was stacking garbage on top of some sort of giant pink creature.

β€œOh, hello. We’re making a barricade to stop the trash monster,” Kaytlyn answered, holding up a random tire. β€œSorry if we disturbed your sleep.”

β€œGerrowl,” the Dee Wurm interjected, trying to help. He shifted a little, spilling some of the barricades and earning a stern look from the Druid Sentinel.

β€œWhy don’t you just use magic?” Passi inquired as he channeled some earth magic. Muddy water from the swamp started to cover the Wurm, and in a few moments, his head was barely visible from the earthen cocoon.

β€œThat was my next step. I just wanted to use the trash to cushion and insulate him,” Kaytlyn insisted, mildly annoyed that someone had stolen her idea. With a hand wave, she summoned her burning Fire Brick elemental weapon. Firing her magic through the weapon, it combined with Passi’s earth powers to turn the earthen barricade into a metal one. β€œThere now, it's perfect.”

β€œWhatever you say,” the moth person yawns, flying off to find somewhere quiet to sleep. A muffled sound from underneath the metallic barricade was barely audible.

β€œOh shush, you’re a perfectly good barricade,” Kaytlyn laughed as she prepared to intercept the trash monster.
